Business ‘influencers’ are, perhaps, the most bizarre beasts in the Internet world. They know all the most intrusive marketing techniques. They’ll find ways to spam you, clutter your inbox, or send you notifications in every platform, and will leave you (on a good day) with a rachitic piece of advice. Always, of course, in exchange for an opportunity to plug and pitch their latest product.
Among these all-too-common types, however, it’s possible to discover the rare individuals that do go out of their way to deliver tremendous value.
You probably already know some of them. And we have quoted them on this blog, to a fault. But, most importantly, they also strive to put out valuable content while sticking to a clear philosophy, having put out major pieces of actionable work that produces real results. They can help you become a better marketer, entrepreneur, or just learn to see things differently. Whoever you are, whatever you do, we know you’re likely to learn something from them.
So, without further ado…
Person-you-should-be-following now #1: Tim Ferriss, life hacker.

Having famously authored mega best-seller The 4-Hour Workweek, Ferriss is a lover of the unconventional, if there ever was one. He’s written books on learning and body-improving and focuses on building unusual solutions to problems such as income generation. From creating companies that earn while you sleep through outsourcing and automation, to getting to 3% body fat, Tim’s creations have gotten popular because what he sells works.
Ferriss is also not shy about his shortcomings: He openly accepts to have struggled with anxiety and depression issues and having overcome them. He hosts the Tim Ferriss blog and podcast, where he attempts to deconstruct the habits of overachievers and super performers that go from ex-Navy Seals to famous authors, professional chess players, and even Lebron James.
Person-you-should-be-following now #2: Seth Godin, marketing genius.

Seth Godin hasn’t just set out to become one of the most influential marketers of all time: He’s striving to change our culture. He’s been a speaker on stages from TED to the United Nations, and published 19 best-selling books, coining key marketing concepts along the way. Many successful entrepreneurs quote his work as both inspiring and life-changing, a definition that Godin would be more than happy with. Like the sage on top of the mountain, Seth doesn’t concern himself with nonsense. He strives to help people level up and change the culture for the better.
Godin writes a daily insightful post on his blog and has an ongoing podcast, Akimbo, both of them more than worth checking out. His latest book, THIS IS MARKETING, aims to summarise his marketing knowledge.
Person-you-should-be-following now #3: Noah Kagan, your practical guy.
Noah brings a fun, joyful presence to the marketing world, which he combines with extensive knowledge of the nitty-gritty details behind successful marketing. A pioneer of digital marketing and social media strategies (he was even employee #30 at Facebook), Noah has also launched companies such as Mint and Sumo. The taco-loving entrepreneur has carved a fun, relaxed image for himself, and shares insights with exceptional practicality. In fact, he’s capable of taking you from a total amateur to position where you get results in business and marketing. His philosophy, while fun, is particularly risk-averse and ideal for those getting started in either.
